«سیاست» در حالت «منطقی» و بهنجار انگیزة «مادی» و «انسانی» دارد، و شعارهای خود را بر مبنای همین انگیزهها تنظیم میکند. اما زمانیکه سیاست کذا استبدادی و استعماری باشد، روند کار متفاوت است. در چنین شرایطی سیاست میباید انگیزة «معنوی» و «مقدس» پیدا کند. به همین دلیل است که در تاریخ معاصر ایران همواره شاهد ایجاد جبهة «حق و باطل» هستیم. جبهههائی که بدون استثناء همه ریشه در یکجانبهگرائی، قانونشکنی یا مرزشکنی و «خروج از جایگاه واقعی اجتماعی» داشته و دارند. از آنجمله است ظهور طاعون سبز که تا به حال تولیداتاش از لاتبازی و شعار پوچ و مبهم فراتر نرفته. تظاهرات و عربدهجوئی در خیابان، شعار مضحک «بازگشت به خط امام»، و دیگر شعارهائی که بر هیچ و پوچ تکیه دارد.

Having
finally decided that it was time to replace my reliable old Canon
Powershot A95, I went ahead and bought this brand-new model, based on
the fact that I'm already familiar with Canon products and I've liked
what I've seen. The new camera definitely delivers, and I'm happy I
chose this over a super-zoom model that wasn't anywhere near as compact.
Pros:
Much, much less shutter lag than my five-year old model (not
surprisingly!), very quick start-up and equally quick focus, sharp and
clear photos, accurate color, and remarkably compact considering all
the features -- fits easily into a pocket. The wide-angle is a bonus,
although I haven't had a chance to play with it much yet. The software
that comes with the camera is the updated version of the older software
I had, and is easy to learn and use.
Cons: yes, the battery has
to be removed to be charged, but this is a very minor inconvenience and

Courageous painters make the work they have to make. It is not always easy to look at and not always easy to find. This month, my city has two places to see good work. I see it as a little personal mission to let you know when I am pulled in, and back to artwork that needs to be seen. On little walls AND big walls.
That said, some disclosure is in order because the small one-woman show downtown, The Birds, is the work of Paloma Ayala, and I've had the pleasure of knowing her for a few years. And the big show, Paint Made Flesh, is at the Memorial Art Gallery and I work there. I didn't do anything really to bring the show here but I also am far from objective.
Paloma draws disturbing things for very good reasons. Some of them are here. I found myself drawn into the portraits in her bird show, but also baffled and confused and frustrated by them.
